Absentee Voting Information
Voters MUST be registered to request an absentee ballot. Visit My Vote Wisconsin (myvote.wi.gov) to confirm your registration status, OR to request your absentee ballot(s) online.
*If you want to confirm whether you're on the permanent absentee ballot list, please call our Voter Line at (715) 395-7200.
Request for Ballot by Mail
If you know you will be unable to get to the poll site on election day, and are registered to vote, you may request an absentee ballot by completing the Absentee Ballot Request form (above) no later than the Thursday before the election (or Friday for military and indefinitely confined voters). The application must be signed by the voter and must include a copy of an acceptable ID, if applicable. If more than one person at the same address is requesting the Absentee Ballot, each person must submit a request.
Voters who certify they are indefinitely confined may request ballots for all elections in going forward. Voters on this, what we call our permanent absentee ballot list, will continue to receive ballots for all elections as long as the voters continue to return them.
Election mail CANNOT be forwarded, nor can it be held for you, by the USPS. Undeliverable ballot envelopes are returned to our office and cancelled, unless we have contact information on file for the voter and can obtain a new address. If you are going to be out of town for a certain election, we will need to know where your ballot can be mailed while you're temporarily away. You can now track your absentee ballots here.
Absentee ballot requests by mail MUST be received by the City Clerk's office no later than 5:00 p.m. the Thursday before the election (by State law, the last day the Clerk can mail an Absentee Ballot).
To request an absentee ballot via mail, please print the Absentee Ballot Request form, and return your completed form to the following address:
Superior City Clerk
1316 N. 14th St., Rm 200
Superior, WI 54880
Request for Ballot by E-Mail
Registered voters may also request an absentee ballot via email at voter@ci.superior.wi.us. In the e-mail, be sure to include the following information:
- Your full name
- Your residential address
- Your mailing address (if different than your home address)
- The election(s) for which you want absentee ballot(s)
Request to Early Vote
Beginning two Tuesdays before the election, voters have the option of voting a ballot in person at the City Clerk's office during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). The last day to do so is on the Friday before the Election, when our office is open until 5:00 p.m.
If your address has changed since you last voted, you will need to provide proof of residence as well as proof of ID to vote. A Wisconsin driver's license or State identification card with your correct address on it may serve as your proof of residence AND your proof of identity--no additional documentation is needed!
Voting via Appointed Agent
Hospitalized voters may appoint an agent to pick up their ballot from the City Clerk's office on election day (or during the 7 days prior).
Additional Information
*Please note state law prohibits voter registration on the Saturday, Sunday, or Monday prior to an election.
