The Nitty Gritty garden is among the demonstration rain gardens at the Wastewater Treatment plant. This garden was named for the building it receives water from. The garden is nestled up against the south wall of the Grit Building where rainwater pours off of the roof. This 900 square foot garden was planted in 2003. While this garden was planted with a variety of flowers, over time certain native species (mainly goldenrod) took over a good portion of the garden.
