Work is beginning on the railroad bridge over the Nemadji River in the vicinity of East 8th Street and 37th Avenue East. The contractor indicates the work being performed is "in water" work. There is a barge in the river and ice is broken up every day to keep water open for barge movement. It is not navigable to pass through this site for foot traffic or snowmobiles during construction, due to minimal ice freezing overnight and construction equipment. Water is opened up approximately 200’ upstream and 600’ downstream of the railroad bridge each day. The work is expected to continue through December or January. The site is marked by barricades, however it is NOT navigable to the public at this time. Please do not attempt to access this area until further notice. Thank you.
