road work ahead sign

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), in coordination with the City of Superior, will begin a resurfacing project on East 2nd Street/ US 2-US 53 on Monday, April 6, 2020. The project will be split into two separate construction seasons; 2020 and 2021. The 2020 season will include work between 2nd Avenue East and 31st Avenue East.

During construction, US 2-US 53 (East 2nd Street) will remain open to traffic; however, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction and the speed limit will be reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph. Delays should be expected, especially during commuting hours. Access will be maintained to residences and businesses within the work zone. The access may include the use of temporary driveways and gravel surfaces for properties that do not have alternate access.

The project is set to begin on April 6th and will continue until mid-October. Work will start with concrete repairs at the East 2nd Street/Belknap Street intersection. This work will restrict turning at the intersection. Detour routes will be signed for all car and truck traffic.
