City of Superior residents can utilize WLSSD’s Household Hazardous Waste facility to dispose of old fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Not all alarms are considered hazardous waste however and some can be disposed of in your regular trash. See the DISPOSAL GUIDE for more information.
The fire department is responsible for enforcing laws which we call fire codes, for all businesses and apartment buildings in our community. Most codes are dictated by the State and some are by city ordinance. A code is a rule which a business or owner of an apartment building must follow for fire safety. The department has 3 Fire Inspectors who inspect businesses and apartment buildings in Superior to insure that codes are being followed.
The Fire Department has certified technicians that can assist you with your child's car seat. Please call headquarters at 715-395-1680 or send us an email and a car seat technician will contact you with details. We don't have drop in car seat /same day checks, therefore an appointment is required. Please try to contact us as far in advance as you can, since there are days when we may not have a technician available. Thank you!
The Superior Fire Department has 3 stations in the City. Headquarters is located at 3326 Tower Ave and has the following personnel on duty : Fire Chief, 1 Battalion Chief, generally 4 firefighters, a mechanic and an administrative assistant. . Three to four firefighters staff Stations 2 and 3, which are located at 723 Hammond Avenue and 2531 East 5th Street, respectively.
