Project Start Date: Spring/Summer 2022
Timeline: Construction to be completed in 15 working days. Final vegetation seeding will be completed no later than September 30th, 2022.
Location: Northwest side of the Winter St. and Susquehanna Ave. transition.
Road Closures: There are no road interruptions anticipated.
The stormwater pond was originally constructed in 2005 as a regional stormwater best management practice (BMP) to service the Vinje Industrial Park development. The pond was designed as a “dry pond”, which is used to settle out solids from runoff prior to discharge. Through the years of heavy traffic along Winter Street and sedimentation from connected storm sewers, the pond has accumulated sediment and no longer functions as originally designed.
The Environmental Services Division staff have conducted in-house planning and design work for a project to remove accumulated sediment and modify the existing concrete outlet control structure. Work will include: excavating and removing approximately 960 cubic yards of material, re-shaping pond bottom, adding riprap, and modifying the outlet control structure orifice to a new elevation.
