Lift Station 3 (located south of Belknap and New York Ave) and its associated force main were both built in 1939. The 2850 ft force main was constructed of cast iron and is at the end of its service life. This force main endured a rupture in 2007, and due to its age and material is ready for replacement. In addition to the force main, the lift station will also be replaced. The new lift station will be constructed within the CSTP 6 facility at the end of Texas Road and will include new high efficiency pumps.
The new force main will be installed with directional drilling. This will require the excavation of boring pits to locate the drilling equipment in addition to periodic closures during drilling efforts.
