Animal Control

  • If you need immediate assistance on an animal issue please call 911.
  • If you need to speak with the Humane Officer, please call 715-395-7280.
  • If you have lost or found an animal contact the Douglas County Humane Society at 715-398-6784 or dial 911 after hours.
  • Animal control is responsible for domestic animals. For rodent/pests animals, contact a pest control company.
  • All animals are required to be kept under restraint at all times.
  • Dogs are required to be kept current on rabies shots. 
  • All dogs over five months old must be licensed annually.
  • Maximum animal limits are 3 dogs and 3 cats per household. 
  • Chickens are allowed in the city as long as they are not a nuisance to the neighborhood.  Roosters are not allowed.
  • No wild animals are allowed to be kept as pets within the city limits.
  • Excessive animal noises must be kept to a minimum, regardless of the time of day.   
  • You are required to pick up after your pet at all times. 
  • Animals that are outside are required to have shelter from the elements and clean water available at all times.
